Angela Duncan

Back in 2013, I didn't like the way things were going in my community. Instead of complaining, I decided to run for local Council. I was elected and discovered that I enjoyed helping my community grow and improve. I was re-elected to Council in 2017 and 2021, serving as Councillor, Deputy Mayor, and then Mayor. I wanted to learn and do more, so I ran for, and was elected to, the Alberta Municipalities Board of Directors, where I served as Director, Vice President - Villages & Summer Villages, and Interim President. During this time visited numerous communities of all sizes, across this great province, where I had the privilege of meeting with Councillors, administrations, and other business and community leaders. I was grateful to hear about their communities and the unique ways that communities, large and small, are tackling today's challenges. I discovered that I'm quite passionate about helping small communities, not only survive, but thrive. In 2023, it was time to make some changes; so I resigned my elected positions and began working in small municipal administration, providing CAO and other administrative services.
